David Lapham wrote STRAY BULLETS, and it is a classic by any means. He has written countless other books as well, and has paid his dues.
BTW Brian Azzarello writes 100 Bullets (the book you incorrectly said Lapham writes), and it is fantastic as well. Amongst other things, he wrote the issue of Tangled Web about the night before spider man's first wrestling match, from the point of view of the Crusher Hogan.
